Job Description - Assistant Accountant

The Role:
Are you an emerging finance professional looking to gain valuable experience within a dynamic finance team?
We are partnering with a reputable client to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a 6-month contract basis to support their busy finance function.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with recent finance experience, ideally studying towards or qualified in AAT, to take ownership of key accounting tasks during a fixed-term period. You will assist with month-end processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, cash management, and expense processing.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and post monthly journals, accruals, and prepayments
Reconcile sales and purchase ledgers, cash books, and intercompany accounts
Manage petty cash and process expense reimbursements efficiently
Maintain fixed asset register and calculate depreciation
Support month-end management accounts preparation
Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless coverage during absences

About You:

Currently studying towards or completed AAT qualification
1-2 years’ experience in a finance/accounting role
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Concur is advantageous
Excellent numeracy, IT (Excel, Word, Outlook) and communication skills
High level of accuracy, professionalism, and integrity
Able to work independently and as part of a team, managing deadlines effectively
Flexible and positive approach to changing priorities
