Assistant Accountant

Reed Accountancy are currently partnered exclusively with a growing Reading-based Manufacturing and Distribution company as they seek an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their small, friendly team. The role is fully office based with working hours of Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm with 1 hour for lunch. The office has ample onsite parking.

Working in a team of two and reporting into the Financial Controller you will be responsible for:

• Credit Control; managing the credit control function, producing monthly customer and supplier statements, and chasing payments where appropriate
• Accounts payable and receivable in accordance with company procedure
• Assisting with Month End close
• Assisting with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with UK-GAAP
• Working with the Management Accountant to reconcile all bank accounts
• Checking and processing personal expense reports
• Invoice processing including entering data into the ERP system, resolving purchase order queries, payments to customer accounts
• Relevant Adhoc

You will have demonstrable experience within a similar accounting role, preferably with a background in AP/AR. You will be able to identify discrepancies and find solutions to resolve transactional issues. You will be confident with all aspects of data entry and work with a high level of detail. You will be a natural process improver and keen to identify and implement efficiencies in what is a lean working environment.

Knowledge of accounting principles and/or double entry Bookkeeping is advantageous, as is any experience using Netsuite.

This role offers an attractive base salary of £30-35k plus private medical and dental insurance.
