Job Description - Assistant Accountant

Dot have partnered with a construction group who are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support their Group Accountant with day-to-day finance operations. This is a hands-on role covering a bit of everything - ideal for someone with 1-3 years’ finance experience who’s ready to step up.

You’ll take support on key tasks and help keep the department running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing:

Preparing and posting journals (payroll, month-end, adjustments)
Maintaining the cashbook and reconciling multiple bank accounts
Raising sales invoices and credit notes, checking for accuracy and timely submission
Recording receipts, processing payments, and supporting the wider month-end process
Assisting with monthly accounts and supporting the month-end close
Assisting with payroll (weekly run, submissions, and queries)
Helping manage subcontractor payments and CIS compliance
Supporting reporting and analysis for the Group Accountant

What you’ll need:

Around 1+ experience in a similar accounts assistant/assistant accountant role)
Good understanding of accounting basics - journals, invoicing, reconciliations
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow processes carefully
Good Excel skills; Sage or Dynamics AX experience would be a bonus

Benefits

£27,000 (negotiable)
Hybrid (3 days in the office)
Flexitime
25 days AL + BHS
