Assistant Accountant - Gravesend

We are a small accountancy practice based in Gravesend, specialising in the construction sector. We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with current regulations.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and control account management to ensure financial accuracy.
• Assist in the preparation ofaccounts to trial balance and support senior accountants.
• Communicate effectively with clients and HMRC regarding financial matters.
• Handle administrative tasks, including answering incoming calls and redirecting messages as necessary.
• Provide general support for the day-to-day operationsof the business.
• Carry out ad hoc administrative duties as needed.

Skills & Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong knowledge of VAT regulations, Making Tax Digital (MTD), and the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
- Experience with Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks accounting software.
- Payroll experience (an advantage but not essential).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Great organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence, motivation, and exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written).

The role may require occasional travel, so having your own vehicle is essential.
