Overview and Opportunity

We are working with a global manufacturing business, based in Whitby, in their search for an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team.

Job Description

In this role you will support the wider business to ensure that they can meet the needs of their stakeholders, whilst meeting their own strategic objectives and support the business growth.

You will also have a functional relationship with the group’s tax team, so previous experience in tax is a must.

Role Responsibilities

• Prepare tax figures for statutory and group reporting

• Support tax return preparation (direct & indirect)

• Work closely with Group Tax to ensure compliance

• Assist with ad hoc tax projects

• Bank reconciliations, cash management, and payment approvals in SAP

• Treasury reporting and support for UK and overseas entities

• Create and manage recharge invoicing and credit card admin

• Liaise with internal teams to provide accurate tax and finance data

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 1 year’s experience in a similar finance role with tax experience

• Strong numerical and analytical skills

• Confident with Excel; SAP (S/4HANA) experience preferred

• Comfortable working to tight deadlines and managing multiple tasks

• Good communication skills and able to work independently
