Salary: £30,000-£35,000 per annum (depends on experience)

Adele Carr Recruitment is delighted to be working with a thriving and ambitious SME based in St Helens, currently seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their expanding finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their finance career within a fast-paced, high-performing environment.

You'll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking team, gaining hands-on experience across a broad range of finance functions while working closely with experienced professionals who are passionate about development and progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Posting journals, accruals, and prepayments
• Reconciling bank statements and balance sheet accounts
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
• Maintaining the fixed asset register
• Assisting with VAT returns and other tax submissions
• Processing invoices and supporting accounts payable/receivable functions
• Preparing financial reports and analysis for internal use
• Supporting year-end audit and statutory reporting
• Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders as needed

What we're looking for

• A degree in finance/accounting, AAT qualification and/or are part-qualified CIMA (or equivalent)
• Previous experience in a similar accounting or finance role
• Ability to interpret financial data and identifying trends or discrepancies
• Comfortable in a fast-paced or changing environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
• Confident using Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
