Looking for a hands-on accounting role where no two days are the same? Our client, a well-established global engineering manufacturer based in Banbury, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join finance team. This is a newly created role, brought in to support the Finance Manager as the business continues to grow.

The Asiistant Accountant role

Supporting month end close to tight group reporting deadlines, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations
Processing multi-currency transactions, journals and revaluations
Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Preparing the monthly VAT return
Supporting forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting
Assisting with internal and external audits
Reviewing employee expenses against company policy
Providing cover for purchase and sales ledger when needed
What you'll need as an Assistant Accountant

Around 5 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
Experience with multi-currency transactions (highly desirable)
Experience with intercompany reconciliations and VAT returns
Confident Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
AAT Level 3 or 4, or qualified by experience
A self-starter who's happy to get stuck into every part of the finance function
US GAAP, SOX or manufacturing experience would be a bonus, but full training is available. Candidates moving from practice into industry are also encouraged to apply.

Please note this role requires flexibility around month end close and some UK bank holidays.
