Assistant Financial Accountant

A London based University is recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the Finance team.

This exciting role will require an enthusiastic Assistant Financial Accountant to contribute to all aspects of accounting including balance sheet reconciliations, compliance, year-end and tax.

Daily rate: c. £240

Location: Central London (hybrid working)

Contract length: Minimum of 3 months with possibility to go permanent

Job responsibilities:

• Completion of monthly bank reconciliations
• Daily posting of bank and other financial accounts journals
• Oversee the month end checklist ensuring all tasks are processed by the relevant teams before the close of the period
• Reconcile balance sheet control accounts
• Assist with all aspects of year-end planning, delivering training to internal stakeholders and preparation of deliverables for external auditors
• Prepare the quarterly VAT return promptly following the end of the quarter for review by the Deputy Director of Finance
• Assist with tax queries (VAT, corporation and global mobility) and larger tax work as required

Person specification:

• AAT qualified
• Technical knowledge and experience of financial accounting, accounting systems and processes
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Confident problem solver with ability to complete complex reconciliations
• Excellent communicator
