Assistant Financial Controller

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting, whilst partnering with operational stakeholders across the business to drive performance and continuous improvement.

This position offers a blend of financial control, commercial analysis, management reporting and team leadership, making it an ideal next step for someone looking to progress their career within a dynamic and evolving organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Produce monthly profit and loss and balance sheet reporting in line with group reporting deadlines.
Maintain and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and robust financial controls.
Analyse financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying key trends, risks and opportunities.
Prepare meaningful commentary and insights to support management decision making.
Lead the monthly rolling forecast process, collaborating with stakeholders across multiple functions.
Coordinate the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment across the business.
Partner with operational and support teams to improve financial performance and cost efficiency.
Support initiatives focused on process improvement, controls enhancement and operational effectiveness.
Manage and develop a team, providing day-to-day guidance and support.
Assist in delivering timely, accurate and insightful financial information to senior leadership.About You

We are keen to speak with ambitious finance professionals who combine strong technical accounting skills with a proactive and commercially minded approach.

You will ideally possess:

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
Experience in a Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, Assistant Financial Controller or similar role.
Strong month-end, reporting, forecasting and budgeting experience.
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and manipulate large data sets.
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
A continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for simplifying processes and enhancing controls.
