Assistant Footwear Buyer
40hrs per week

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our Buying Department in Leeds. As an AB, you will support the daily operational functions within the team along with the Junior Buyer & Buyer.

You will be a key supplier liaison and responsibilities include constantly reviewing the critical path, sample management and supporting the BAA in their role. You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and excellent organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Ensuring that all orders are placed in accordance with the relevant decisions:

Inputting on and updating the Intention to Buy Process, ensuring all information and full specification details are accurate and correct for new orders, repeats orders and wholesale orders, forwarding all the correct information to suppliers ensuring all details for new suppliers e.g. terms/contacts etc. are correct.
Responsible for managing order process and critical path, regular supplier communication and email management to ensure all outstanding orders and delivery schedules are in control and the critical path is on track and deadlines are met for both MIP and all corresponding MIP brands,
Ensuring all suppliers are working in accordance with the Supplier Manual requirements - ensuring all suppliers recognise the importance of this document and that each follow and comply.
Responsible for managing and developing the Buyers Admin Assistant, ensuring tasks and deadlines are completed
Assist in weekly trade preparation, pulling system reports and weekly top line sales analysis for Buyer

2) Supplier Communication and Critical path management to ensure that orders arrive on time:

Managing and ensuring the Critical path and outstanding orders are maintained by both suppliers and buying team. Chasing Confirmation & Production samples / Deliveries and checking bulk against confirmed samples. Ensuring both yourself and the BAA are working to same methods & efficiencies so that critical deadlines are met.
Communicates effectively, builds and maintains key relationships with suppliers – understanding the importance of being efficient with the ability to deal with and highlight potential problems effectively and promptly to ensure maximum efficiency.
Commercially aware of potential daily problems in season that could delay orders, and communicate these efficiently so these can be resolved by the

buying/merchandising.
Works closely alongside the merchandising and shipping team with the delivery schedule, highlighting any issues and changes from suppliers that are potential risks. Responsible for managing and owning delivery meetings from a buying department perspective
Working closely with Buyer & Junior Buyer to understand potential QC problems. Communicating clearly in both pictorial and written to ensure the supplier is clear of any potential problems before production is started. All information to be attached to the orders on the system.
Liaising with Accounts, Warehouse regarding shipment and delivery problems or quality issues.
Sample logs to be carefully monitored ready to check for invoicing at the end of each season

3) Sample Management:

Tracking development samples and photographing and logging onto the system chasing up

confirmation/production

samples from suppliers ensuring these are kept to the critical path deadlines.
Demonstrates a clear and high level of understanding of Moda in Pelles quality expectations and requirements for product standards in order to be able to communicate effectively within approvals and to suppliers. Confirming samples with Buyer/Junior Buyer/ ensuring all comments are added to the system and communicated clearly to the suppliers, labelling samples with colour coded stickers. when app
To create and ensure that any amendments or changes to individual styles are logged at each stage ensuring that the order is produced to MIP requirement.

4) Range Development/Market Awareness:

Assist and support the Junior Buyer/Buyer in range planning, chasing supplier catalogues and development and ensuring the system and proposed status reflects agreed range builder. Support in negotiations for product range
Market position – have a clear understanding of both target market and how this then implicates the Classic/Fashion mix working alongside Junior/Senior Buyer.
Actively conducts and analyses thorough benchmarking of competitors to look for missed

opportunities/price

architecture understanding, sourcing activities and marketing activity.
Develops a strong working relationship with key departments i.e. Design – identifying key

trends/merchandising

to achieve the right price at the right time.
