Assistant GL Accountant - Mostly remote

The Role:

Your responsibilities as the Assistant GL Accountant will include:

• Assist in maintaining and reconciling the general ledger accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and ensure they are accurately recorded.
• Collaborate with other finance team members to gather and analyse financial data.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes.
• Participate in the preparation of financial statements and reports
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Handle ad-hoc financial tasks and projects as required.
• Support and mentor junior members of the team.

To be considered for the position of Assistant GL Accountant:

• Part qualified (ACCA/ACA) or equivalent.
• Experience gained within a small practice with a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals – debits/credits, etc.
• Confident to supervise junior colleagues.
• Organised and systematic approach.
• Excellent communicator with the confidence to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrates diligence, accountability, and a strong start-to-finish work ethic.

This role is primarily remote, with just 2–3 days per month required in the office. As such, applicants should be based within a reasonable commuting distance of Birmingham.
