Assistant Greenkeeper

Mannings Heath Golf Club boasts 27 holes, practice facilities, tennis courts and a vineyard.   The Waterfall course is a down land par 71 course of nearly 7000 yards, with mostly tree-lined fairways and the renowned Kingfisher 9-hole course.

The Greenkeeping Team aim to produce quality playing surfaces all year round, which provide an enjoyable and challenging test for golfers of varying abilities.

In this role, the job-holder will be responsible for performing greenkeeping duties to an expected high standard to maintain the courses to the highest level, assisting in the efficient running of both courses to the required standard in order to ensure a high degree customer satisfaction.

The Greenkeeper will ensure that all duties assigned to them are performed in line with the Golf Club’s requirements and to high service levels and standards, and in a professional manner.

The job holder will have a proven track record in the field of Greenkeeping, together with the ability to demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm for delivering the highest quality customer-focussed service when it comes to course maintenance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES

• Conduct effective pre-start checks


• Mowing – greens, tees, fairways, semi-rough, rough to include all areas around the clubhouse


• Strimming


• Raking bunkers and bunker maintenance


• Change holes


• Move tee markers


• Spraying & Fertilising (where appropriate qualifications held)


• Chain-saw, tree work (where appropriate qualifications held)


• Slit and aerate greens and other similar duties


• General maintenance and construction work as required


• Training course attendance where required for the role

GENERAL DUTIES

• Contribute to the work of the team and provide support and cover for the other members of staff


• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading trade publications.


• Accomplishing organisation goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

• Have an understanding of the golf game and an appreciation of members’ requirements of a high standard course


• Demonstrate a professional and modern approach to greenkeeping.


• Experience in using TORO and John Deere rotary and cylinder machinery, strimmers and hand mowers.


• PA1, PA2 PA 6, spraying (beneficial but not essential)


• Knowledge of H&S in the workplace


• NVQ Level 2 in Greenkeeping.


• A knowledge of all greenkeeping tasks


• Flexible approach to working hours to include 1 weekend in 3
