We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing finance team based in Bristol.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who is looking to further develop their management accounting skills while working closely with senior stakeholders across the business. The successful candidate will support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis, while helping to maintain strong financial controls and supporting business performance.
The role would suit someone who is AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:
* Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
* Assisting with month-end and year-end close activities
* Preparing accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
* Reconciling balance sheet control accounts and maintaining financial records
* Supporting weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting
* Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
* Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
* Producing financial reports, analysis, and KPI information for management teams
* Supporting purchase ledger, sales ledger, supplier payments, and bank reconciliations
* Assisting with payroll processes and audit preparation
* Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
* Building strong working relationships with operational and commercial stakeholders across the business
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
* Minimum 3 years' experience within a finance or accounting environment
* Experience with purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
* Experience preparing financial reports and analysis
* Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
* Experience using Sage or similar accounting software
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
Desirable
* AAT Level 4 qualification
* Studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification
* Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
* Experience working within a service-based or multi-site business environment
* Experience using ERP systems
