ABOUT YOU
As the Assistant Merchandiser, you will assist the Merchandisers in the planning and trading of the brand. You will support the wider Merchandising team with the general running of all merchandising operations, with an aim to deliver a range that optimises sales, stock and profit. Your personable and positive demeanour makes you a reliable partner and allows you to form strong working relationships across the different departments in order to influence growth and drive efficiency.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities are:
Assisting the Merchandiser in gathering and collating relevant information to support in the range planning process and in-season trading.
Working closely with the Buying team to monitor deliveries, highlighting issues to the Merchandiser where required and suggesting solutions.
Working closely with Buying to create and trade capsule ranges for the hardlines department under the Merchandiser’s guidance.
Suggesting replenishment for lines based on ROS & cover.
Updating and re-forecasting the line cards under the guidance of the Merchandiser, and proposing ways to capitalise or de-risk the department.
Updating and re-forecasting WSSIs for key departments under the guidance of the Merchandiser.
Full ownership of internal and marketplace daily stock monitoring.
Supporting the merchandisers in managing the MAA’s tasks and priorities.
Supporting the wider B&M Team in weekly Trade Meetings providing documents and reports where necessary.
Developing positive working relationships cross-functionally across departments and externally (warehouse, suppliers, trading, marketing) to build trust and influence growth.
Keeping up to date with competitor activity and communicating any areas of interest or concerns to the Merchandiser to help them make commercially informed decisions.
Any other ad hoc duties as needed by the Merchandising team, including performance reporting and data housekeeping.
Skills and Knowledge
The Assistant Merchandiser is expected to have the following skills and knowledge:
2+ years experience in merchandising
A passion for retail and a desire to work and develop within a Merchandising role
Strong interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships at all levels
Excellent communication and presenting skills
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with superb attention to detail
Driven, motivated, and ambitious
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-channel environment and perform effectively under pressure

Location: You will be based in our office in Northampton where we are operating a hybrid model of 2-3 days in the office and 2-3 days from home. Flexibility around this will be required when necessary.
