Job Description - Assistant Pensions Manager

c£40k pa dependant on experience  

Permanent 

Full time 

Location is ideally within the Anglian Water region

We are searching for a candidate to work alongside the pensions manager in providing governance and scheme secretarial services to the Corporate Trustee responsible for two closed defined benefit schemes and assisting in the delivery of training to the Trustee Board on Scheme and wider pension related matters.  

 

As an Assistant Pensions Manager, you will be aiding in the implementation and maintenance of the scheme governance and risk documents, including the risk register, business plan, trustee training logs and conflicts of interest register.  

 

In conjunction with Scheme advisers, you will help keep the Trustee Board up to date on regulatory changes, guidance and practice ensuring that Trustee processes are undertaken in line with agreed policies and wider legislation.  

 

As a key member of the Trustee Boards team, you will act as a point of contact for members and the company in responding to scheme specific and general pension enquires and help set working practices and strategies.   

 

What does it take to be an Assistant Pensions Manager 

  • Pensions experience ideally, in a scheme secretarial / governance environment either in a consultancy or in-house pensions team. 

  • Knowledge of the current pension’s regulatory regime and technical pensions expertise.  

  • Educated with at least 5 GCSEs, to include Maths and English language.  

  • Experience of working with and managing external service providers and advisers.  

  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and under pressure.  

  • Pensions qualified or studying towards APMI or equivalent 

  • Customer Service  

  • Communications Skills 

  • Organisation and planning skills 

  • Flexibility
