Assistant Plant Operator

My client operates a plant in Exeter and are now seeking a Plant Operator to join their close-knit shift team.

Full in-house training and support will be provided to the successful candidate. What is paramount to the client is having the right attitude. They are looking for a teamplayer who can be relied upon. Someone who is a good communicator and gets on well with others, having the confidence to ask questions or raise concerns.

You will be part of a shift team responsible for efficient operation of the plant, undertaking operational tasks in accordance with environmental and safety procedures, including monitoring the fuel supply, boiler, steam turbine, water treatment plant, emissions monitoring plant and auxiliary systems.

Working alongside other operators and maintenance technicians your duties will include:

• Undertaking control room and site operational tasks.
• Operating the plant in a safe and efficient manner during normal running, start-up / shutdown, and emergency situations.
• Operating control room DCS / SCADA systems
• Carry out plant walk rounds and recording of readings.
• Assisting with mechanical maintenance work.
• Undertake housekeeping tasks.
• Operation of overhead crane and driving telehandler and forklift.
• Monitoring plant control systems and completing log sheets.

12-hour shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off) occasionally required to work overtime.

£28,000 + annual salary reviews plus annual performance-based bonus plus ad hoc discretionary bonuses.

Essential

• Well-rounded general skills
• Strong communication skills with a logical approach to problem solving
• A 'can-do' attitude 

Desirable (but not essential)

• An understanding of plant
• Practical skills including basic fitting or similar would be an advantage
• CPCS card other Plant operators’ licences would be an advantage
• Good understanding of industrial Health & Safety practices
• Basic IT skills
