The Role

ZETEC Recruitment are working with an established manufacturing business in Deeside to recruit an Assistant Production Manager.

This is a hands-on management position supporting the day-to-day performance of a busy production operation. You will work closely with the Production Manager and wider operational teams to keep production running effectively, maintain standards and help improve performance across the department.

The role would suit someone with solid experience leading people in a manufacturing environment who is ready to take on broader responsibility.

Main Duties

Help coordinate daily production activity to ensure schedules and priorities are achieved

*

Support the management of supervisors, team leaders and production employees

*

Monitor output, staffing, quality, waste and equipment downtime

*

Identify issues affecting performance and work with relevant teams to resolve them

*

Help improve production efficiency and reduce avoidable waste or disruption

*

Ensure employees are working safely and in line with site procedures

*

Support the consistent application of quality and operational standards

*

Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, Planning and Warehouse teams

*

Assist with employee training, development and performance discussions

*

Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and support recruitment where required

*

Review recurring production issues and contribute to practical improvement actions

*

Promote good communication, organisation and housekeeping across the production area

What We’re Looking For

You should have previous experience supervising or managing people within a manufacturing, production or process-led environment.

We would expect you to be comfortable dealing with production pressures, changing priorities and day-to-day people management while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and delivery.

Suitable backgrounds could include Production Supervisor, Shift Manager, Senior Team Leader or similar manufacturing leadership positions.

Skills and Experience

Proven experience leading teams within a manufacturing or production setting

*

Good understanding of production planning and operational priorities

*

Experience working with performance measures such as output, efficiency, waste or downtime

*

Confident communication and people-management skills

*

Ability to deal with production problems in a practical and organised way

*

Strong awareness of health and safety within an operational environment

*

Experience working collaboratively with other departments

*

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

*

Comfortable using standard computer systems and Microsoft Office

Additional Experience

Candidates with experience in any of the following areas would be of particular interest:

Improving manufacturing processes or production methods

*

Reducing waste, downtime or other operational losses

*

Supporting site safety responsibilities or holding a recognised safety qualification

*

Working in environments with formal quality procedures, auditing or compliance requirements

*

Technical, engineering, manufacturing or operations-based training
