Assistant Production Manager Nights

Job Title: Assistant Nightshift Manager - Production Department
Location: Winsford, Cheshire
Salary: £60,000 per annum
Working Hours: Night Shifts
Reporting To: Nightshift Manager

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Assistant Nightshift Manager to join our client's production team based in Winsford, Cheshire. This role is critical to the efficient and safe running of night operations and requires strong leadership, a hands-on approach, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will support the Nightshift Manager in overseeing production, ensuring health and safety standards are met, and deputising when required. You will help drive operational performance, support staff development, and ensure smooth transitions across all production stages.
Key Objectives:
* Uphold and enforce Health & Safety standards throughout all areas of production.
* Support the delivery of performance targets across all stages of production.
* Act as Deputy to the Nightshift Manager during their absence.

Responsibilities:
Health & Safety and People Management:
* Record and report near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
* Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety procedures across all departments.
* Conduct disciplinary investigations and hearings where required.
* Support onboarding of new starters in collaboration with the nightshift training mentor.
* Perform regular performance reviews and one-to-one meetings.
* Provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members.
* Foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
* Maintain high performance standards through consistent and fair management.
* Promote a positive, resilient, and solutions-oriented workplace culture.
* Inspire and motivate staff to achieve team goals.

Production Operations:
* Collaborate with the Nightshift Manager to set and deliver production targets.
* Oversee key production processes across all shifts and stages.
* Monitor and evaluate time and motion studies where applicable.
* Lead initiatives focused on process improvement and cost reduction.
* Identify development opportunities for nightshift staff.
* Assist in managing contract transitions to ensure uninterrupted production flow.

Deputising Responsibilities:
* Host nightly pre-shift briefings.
* Liaise with the Head of Production for shift handovers and updates.

Additional Information:
All employees are expected to adopt a flexible approach to their duties. From time to time, you may be required to perform additional tasks outside the scope of this role. Full training will be provided as needed.
