Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading manufacturing organisation with the recruitment of a Assistant Production Team Leader to join their specialist On-Site Rolling team in Cardiff.

Working Hours & Travel

Your normal working base will be Cardiff, working: Monday to Friday - 7:00am to 3:00pm

Once fully trained, the role will involve regular UK travel, typically around every other week depending on project requirements. Some projects will require overnight stays, for which an additional overnight allowance is paid, while sites within reasonable travelling distance will allow you to return home the same day.

This is a varied opportunity combining hands-on manufacturing with the chance to work on customer projects across the UK. You'll be based primarily at the Cardiff manufacturing site, supporting the safe and efficient production of high-quality roofing and cladding products, while also travelling with colleagues to customer sites where products are manufactured directly on location using specialist roll-forming equipment.

This is what you'll be doing

As a Assistant Team Leader, you'll support the Team Leader with the day-to-day running of production activities both at the Cardiff facility and on customer sites throughout the UK.

Your responsibilities will include:

Setting, operating and monitoring specialist roll-forming machinery to manufacture roofing and cladding products safely and accurately.
Supporting the Team Leader to ensure production activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Travelling with colleagues to project sites across the UK to support on-site roll forming and manufacturing.
Setting up and operating machinery on customer sites following full training.
Ensuring manufactured products meet required specifications and quality standards.
Keeping production lines supplied with the correct coils and materials to minimise downtime and maintain output.
Supporting offline packing activities to ensure production continues efficiently.
Assisting with the coordination of daily workloads and ensuring production requirements and delivery deadlines are achieved.
Completing production projects and tasks assigned by the Team Leader or Manufacturing Manager.
Supporting colleagues and providing guidance where required to maintain safe and efficient working practices.
Identifying production or quality issues and taking appropriate action or escalating concerns where required.
Making informed decisions within a busy manufacturing environment, including where priorities change or time pressures arise.
Maintaining excellent Health & Safety standards both within the Cardiff manufacturing facility and while working on external project sites.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the production operation.
Working collaboratively with colleagues throughout all UK site visits - you will not be expected to travel or work on-site alone.The experience you'll bring

Previous experience within a manufacturing, production or machine-operating environment.
Experience operating production machinery; roll-forming experience would be advantageous but is not essential where you have strong transferable machine-operating experience.
Previous experience supporting, mentoring or leading colleagues within a production environment would be advantageous.
Good understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards and Health & Safety.
Confidence working within a hands-on production environment and supporting the smooth running of daily operations.
Good numeracy and literacy skills.
Good general IT skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.
Ability to remain calm and make sensible decisions within a busy or pressurised environment.
Positive attitude towards continuous improvement.
Flexibility to travel to customer sites throughout the UK and stay away overnight where project requirements dictate.
Comfortable working away from the Cardiff facility as part of a wider team.
Flexible approach to working hours where site or project requirements occasionally require it.And this is what you'll get in return

£15.76 per hour / approximately £32,781 per annum.
Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm standard working hours.
Additional overnight allowance for nights spent away on UK project sites.

Travel requirements will vary according to the project schedule but are expected to be regular - Where a site is within reasonable travelling distance, you'll return home the same the working day. For projects further afield, overnight accommodation will be provided and an additional overnight allowance will be paid.

You won't be expected to travel or attend sites alone; site work will be completed alongside other members of the team.
