ROLE – Assistant Project Manager/ Project Engineer LOCATION – YORK SALARY – £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing projects from conception through completion. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, and Operations teams, this role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with customer requirements. Candidates with prior Project Engineer experience are highly encouraged to apply, as this role bridges technical expertise with project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers in developing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Coordinate with engineering, production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Track project progress, identify risks, and support problem-solving to maintain timelines.
Manage technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
Prepare status reports and updates for internal teams and external customers.
Support resource planning and allocation across multiple projects.
Foster strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes and project workflows.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) required.
2+ years of experience in project engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related roles.
Exposure to project management practices (formal training or certifications such as CAPM, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma a plus).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar) and CAD/engineering software is a plus.
Ability to balance multiple priorities and adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
