A well-established construction contractor is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in St Albans.

Applicants must have a minimum of one to two years’ practical Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry. This position is not suitable for a graduate with no previous industry experience.

Responsibilities

* Working closely with the site team to procure subcontract packages

* Preparing tender documents and issuing subcontract enquiries

* Reviewing, reconciling and analysing subcontractor quotations

* Preparing subcontract orders and associated documentation

* Remeasuring subcontract accounts

* Assessing subcontractor applications for payment

* Drafting subcontractor payment notices

* Assisting with the preparation of monthly external valuations

* Communicating directly with clients regarding valuations and commercial matters

* Monitoring variations, costs and the commercial performance of projects

* Maintaining accurate commercial and project records

Requirements

* A minimum of one to two years’ Quantity Surveying experience

* Previous experience working for a main contractor or construction subcontractor

* A relevant Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management qualification is preferred

* An understanding of subcontract procurement, valuations and payment processes

* Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* Confidence dealing with clients, subcontractors and site teams

* A proactive attitude and a desire to continue developing professionally
