Job Description - Assistant Service Manager

Job Title: Assistant Service Manager
Location: Telford
Salary: £40,000 + Bonus
Industry: Plant / Forklift / Automotive

Are you an experienced technician or supervisor from the Plant, Forklift, or Automotive sector looking to take the next step in your career? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, forward-thinking company in Telford as an Assistant Service Manager.

We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for leading teams, improving operations, and delivering first-class customer service.

What We’re Looking For:

A background in plant machinery, forklifts, materials handling, or automotive service environments
Previous experience in a supervisory or management role (e.g. Workshop Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Service Controller)
Ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers
Organised and proactive approach to service scheduling and operations
Strong communication skills to liaise with both engineers and customers
Commercially aware with an understanding of workshop performance and KPIs

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting the Service Manager with the day-to-day operations of the workshop and field service teams
Managing job schedules, workloads, and workshop efficiency
Acting as a key contact for engineers and clients, ensuring high service standards
Monitoring stock levels, organising parts, and keeping downtime to a minimum
Helping to drive continuous improvement and commercial performance
