Assistant Transport Manager

We're on the lookout for a motivated Assistant Transport Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a busy transport department. You'll work closely with the Transport Manager, ensuring smooth coordination of drivers and vehicles while staying compliant with all current legal regulations.

This is your chance to step up - you'll cover the Transport Manager during holidays and absences, gaining invaluable experience and leadership exposure. Ideally you hold the CPC and have previous experience of working in a Transport role. The role will be based in North Hertfordshire & involve managing circa 45 drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining levels of all transport employees regarding health and safety, working time directive, vehicle checks, congestion charge, keys, cameras, tachometer checks and maintaining the service planner and organising repairs / maintenance.
• Maintaining the vehicle files so that the company complies with its legal responsibilities and conforms to VOSA and FORS requirements, & the company's Goods Vehicles Operator Licence.
• FORS practitioner.
• Ensuring all accidents, injuries and near misses are reported.
• Ensuring that all new personnel are trained and inducted appropriately.
• Dealing with clients and loading the jobs onto the system, dealing with suppliers
• Monitoring fuel and tyre usage as well as driving standards
• Cover for Transport Manager, Inbound Pallet Track Manager and Transport Assistant where necessary

• Good understanding of Transport regulations (CPC Holder - National / International)
• Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and loads
• Strong financial skills
• Ability to adjust and change systems and processes within a growing business

• Salary circa £35,000- £42,000
• Monday-Friday 8:00-16:00
• 28 Days Holiday
