Assistant/Junior Quantity Surveyor

Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Derby
Salary: £30,000-£40,000 DOE

This role would suit a graduate, trainee or early-career QS looking to develop their commercial skills within a supportive environment, gaining exposure to cost management, procurement and contract administration across innovative offsite construction schemes.

We are working with a specialist offsite construction contractor delivering unique projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team across a range of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion
Support the preparation of measurements, cost plans and project budgets
Assist with valuations, variations and final account preparation
Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
Support cost reporting and forecasting activities
Work closely with project and site teams to monitor project performance
Assist with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
Develop an understanding of JCT and NEC contracts and commercial processesExperience Required:

Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Trainee QS role, or a relevant degree qualification
Good understanding of construction and commercial principles
Competent numerical and analytical skills
Knowledge of measurement and cost management processes
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial construction roleDesirable:

Experience within offsite construction, MMC, timber frame or structural steel projects
Exposure to JCT and NEC forms of contract
Experience working for a contractor or subcontractor environment
Working towards a Quantity Surveying qualification or professional accreditationAdditional Information:
