Associate Director - Civil & Structural Engineering

Location: Swansea | Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

An established and ambitious engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director to join its senior leadership team and play a key role in the continued growth and development of the business.

This is a senior appointment for an individual with a strong technical background, an established industry profile and a proven track record of delivering complex projects across both building structures and civil engineering.

Applicants should meet all of the following criteria:

Chartered Engineer with a minimum of 5 years' post-chartership experience.
Chartered membership of either MIStructE or MICE.
15+ years' professional project design experience.
Extensive project experience across BOTH building structures AND civil engineering.
A strong and demonstrable portfolio of completed projects across both disciplines.
Proven experience managing projects through the entire project lifecycle, from initial client engagement and concept through design, delivery and completion.
Strong client-facing and stakeholder-management experience.
Proven leadership experience, including the ability to manage and develop engineering and technical staff.
An established network of industry and client contacts.
Demonstrable experience in business development and winning new work.
The commercial awareness and relationships required to contribute significantly to the growth of the consultancy.The Role

As Associate Director, you will take a senior leadership role within the consultancy, combining technical expertise, project leadership, client management and business development.

You will be expected to:

Lead and oversee civil and structural engineering projects from inception through to completion.
Manage project teams and provide leadership and technical direction to HCE project staff.
Act as a senior point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
Lead stakeholder engagement and represent the consultancy at a senior level.
Identify new opportunities and develop relationships with prospective clients.
Generate and secure new project opportunities through your existing industry network and business-development activities.
Support the strategic growth and development of the business.
Contribute to fee proposals, tenders, appointments and commercial negotiations.
Help develop the consultancy's market presence and reputation.
Mentor and develop junior and senior members of the technical team.Business Development & Commercial Expectations

This is not purely a technical or project-management position.

The successful candidate will be expected to bring an established industry network and actively contribute to business development, client acquisition and the generation of new work.

The expectation is that the successful individual will be capable of generating in excess of £175,000 of annual revenue through their project portfolio, client relationships and business-development activity, helping to drive the consultancy's continued growth.
