Job Description - Associate Director - Digital (Packing)

Introduction to role:

Are you prepared to guide a digital transformation that accelerates how medicines reach people who need them? In this role, you will shape and deliver the digital strategy for packing, turning data, technology and disciplined programme management into faster, smarter and more sustainable ways of working.

You will partner with teams across the site and enterprise to build a clear roadmap, select the right technologies and realise tangible benefits on our lines. What could you achieve by orchestrating digital change across packing to unlock speed, quality and efficiency? You will have visible impact on core business outcomes while developing the digital capability of our workforce.

Accountabilities:

  • Digital Programme Management: Oversee the execution of the Packing PET’s digital transformation initiatives and apply a structured programme management approach to ensure successful implementation and measurable benefits.

  • Digital Roadmap Ownership: Engage with interested parties at all levels to develop a clear, strategic roadmap for digital transformation. Identify and prioritise opportunities that support the department’s strategy and delivery goals.

  • Technology Identification and Feasibility: Continuously assess emerging digital technologies; conduct feasibility studies to determine potential impact on business processes and make evidence-based recommendations.

  • End-to-End Project Leadership: Own select digital projects from the case development through benefits realisation; deliver to time, cost and quality in alignment with the Project Management Framework.

  • Act as the client lead for specific projects. Represent the Packaging Department’s best interests. Collaborate with internal and external partners to secure outcomes and sustain adoption.

  • Digital Advocacy and Capability Building: Champion digital technology and inspire the workforce to embrace new ways of working; foster a culture of innovation and digital readiness; develop organisational capability to drive continuous improvement.

  • Knowledge Sharing and Learning: Engage with colleagues across sites and globally to share standard processes; stay current on industry trends and bring actionable insights back to the department.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge / experience of Packing processes

  • Programme & Project management skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills confident in communicating across all levels of the business, from Operators to Senior Stakeholders. You will also have the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership and change management capabilities.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their practical applications in a business context.

  • A strategic problem solver with the ability to develop and implement digital roadmaps.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Passion for digital innovation and a commitment to inspiring change.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Chartered Engineer with an appropriate engineering institution (or equivalent)
