The Role of the Associate Director of Fire Engineering

As an Associate Director (Fire Engineering), you will act as both a technical and strategic leader, overseeing the delivery of fire safety engineering services across diverse, medium to large-scale projects.

You will work closely with clients, ensuring projects meet the highest standards, while also shaping the long-term success and growth of the business. This role offers the chance to lead project delivery, mentor the next generation of fire engineers, and play a key part in business development and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities of the Associate Director

• Lead the development and delivery of high-quality fire safety strategies and designs.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, building long-term relationships across multiple sectors.
• Prepare and manage project proposals, fee bids, and tenders.
• Oversee budgets, timelines, and quality standards across all projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Fire Engineer or Associate within a consultancy environment.
• Strong technical expertise in fire safety design and compliance.
• Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to mentor and inspire a team.
• Commercial awareness, with experience in fee proposals and project management.
• Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to build lasting professional relationships.
