Barings Private Credit & Global Private Finance Division

Barings is a leading global asset management firm with over $400 billion AUM. Barings Private Finance is a Private Credit sub-team of over 80 dedicated investment professionals located in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific focused on providing investors access to opportunities up and down the capital structure.

The team sources global investment opportunities across a spectrum of risk/return profiles. Through its Separate Account and Commingled Funds, the team provides various Direct Lending Solutions: senior secured loans, second lien, unitranche, mezzanine debt, equity co-investments. Investment professionals directly originate and underwrite every deal they invest in and have the ability to create highly customised portfolios to meet investor needs.

Barings Private Finance in Europe & France

Barings has substantially grown its European private credit strategy. The European Private Finance team counts 20+ investment professionals in London covering the European markets. France is one of the key investment geographies.

Job Summary

With the current commitment to France and to strengthen the existing investment team in London, Barings is seeking an Associate Director to assist in providing cash flow based financing solutions to private equity sponsored transactions across a variety of industries. The position is located in our London office.

Primary Responsibilities

• Analysing new investment opportunities and typically evaluate companies, the markets in which they operate and the risks related to arranging and investing in private debt securities
• Assisting in preparation of credit papers and supporting the deal team’s presentation of a transaction to Investment Committee
• Financial modelling of transactions including conducting appropriate sensitivity analysis
• Supporting the review of facility agreements and other loan documentation
• Meeting with senior-level company management across Europe to assess opportunities
• Review of due diligence reports
• Assisting internal processes required for funding
• Involvement in the ongoing monitoring and management of assets
• Attendance at marketing events/networking across the market

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Fluent French speaker
• 6+ years of work experience preferably at an asset management company, with Private Credit, a commercial bank, an investment bank or similar financial institution.
• Master’s degree preferably with a focus on Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
• Experience underwriting, structuring and executing relevant transactions for financial sponsors and/or corporate clients
• Solid technical skills and capable of assessing deal opportunities and participating in the transaction execution process
• Rigorous, fast and reliable in execution with keen attention to detail
• An investor mindset: open, mobile and mature in risk management
• Passionate about investment – strong development potential and ambition
• Good interpersonal skills a team player mindset
• Multicultural, adaptable and a resilient and autonomous mind
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Product Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
