Job Description - Associate Director (Structural Engineering)
I'm currently working with a highly respected structural engineering consultancy in Hertfordshire that is looking to appoint an Associate Director to join its growing leadership team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer who is ready to take on a senior leadership role within a thriving business. You'll work closely with the Partners, helping to lead an established team, manage key client relationships, oversee project delivery and play a significant part in the continued growth of the office.
The consultancy has an exceptionally strong pipeline of work across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, industrial, refurbishment and new build projects. They are known for delivering high-quality engineering solutions and have built an excellent reputation with both repeat and new clients.
The Role
This is a varied position that combines technical excellence with leadership and commercial responsibility. Responsibilities include:
Leading the delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
Acting as the senior technical lead on complex and high-value schemes, providing guidance and quality assurance across the team.
Managing client relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact for key accounts.
Overseeing project programmes, budgets and fee management to ensure successful project delivery.
Mentoring and developing Engineers and Technicians, supporting their professional growth.
Working alongside senior management to help shape the future direction of the business, contributing to recruitment, resource planning and strategic growth.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE).
A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Significant experience delivering structural design projects across a variety of sectors.
Strong technical knowledge of UK design standards and building materials.
Previous experience leading teams, managing clients and overseeing project delivery.
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build lasting client relationships.
Experience working on both new build and refurbishment projects, with residential sector experience highly desirable.
