Are you an experienced and ambitious Transport Planning or Highways professional with good project delivery and client development skills who is looking to take your career to the next level?

We are currently working with one of the UK's leading, multidisciplinary consultancy businesses who is looking to appoint an Associate Director - Transport to help continue the growth and development of its established Transport team in the South of England.

The role can be based from either the central London or Southampton office, with flexibility around the successful candidate's preferred location.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants more than simply managing projects.

You will play a key role in growing the Transport team across London and the South of England, developing new client relationships, identifying opportunities and helping to secure and deliver new business.

The existing Transport team comprises around 34 professionals across the Southeast of England, with further growth planned. You will become an important senior figure within the team, helping to shape its future direction and supporting the delivery of an expanding portfolio of projects.

There is particular interest in individuals who already have strong client and industry connections that can be leveraged to generate new opportunities, although you will also have the opportunity to develop existing relationships with clients working across other areas of the wider business.

Importantly, this role offers a clear opportunity for an ambitious Associate Director to progress quickly towards Director level as the team and workload continue to grow.

What You'll Be Doing

You will combine technical leadership, project delivery, client management and business development, including:

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients across London and the South East.
• Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the private and public sectors.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary business to maximise cross-selling and internal BD opportunities.
• Leading and overseeing the successful delivery of transport planning and highways projects.
• Providing technical and strategic input across development and infrastructure projects.
• Supporting the continued growth, development and performance of the regional Transport team.
• Managing project budgets, programmes, quality and commercial performance.
• Mentoring and developing less experienced members of the team.
• Representing the business at client meetings, industry events and other business-development opportunities.
• Helping to shape the future strategy and direction of the Transport South business.

The Person

We are keen to hear from ambitious and commercially minded transport professionals who are ready to take on greater responsibility.

You may currently be working as an Associate Director, Principal Consultant, Technical Director or Senior Transport Planner / Highways professional and be looking for an opportunity where you can have a greater influence on the growth of a business.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Significant experience within Transport Planning and/or Highways Design.
• A broad technical background rather than being restricted to one particular area of transport.
• Experience delivering transport studies, assessments, highways schemes or infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with private developers and/or public-sector clients.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
• A proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
• A demonstrable appetite for business development.
• The drive, enthusiasm and commercial awareness to help grow a successful team.
• Experience managing, mentoring and developing other professionals.
• A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
• Chartered status with CIHT, CILT, ICE or another relevant professional body would be advantageous.
