As the Associate Infrastructure Operations Engineer within the National Records of Scotland (NRS) you will work within our IT Service Management and First Line support team who are responsible for administering, supporting, and maintaining our core on-premises and cloud services.
You will support, manage, and maintain the core technical infrastructure that underpins production services. As a trainee, you will work in an established team and support infrastructure operations engineers in their daily work, under their direction.
Success profiles are specific to each job, and they include the mix of behaviours, experience and technical criteria (if applicable) that candidates will be assessed on.
1. Working within a specialised IT service delivery role, with knowledge of Windows operating system environments including AD, or networking technologies.
2. The ability to work with limited supervision once any necessary training has been provided, displaying good judgement, strong planning and organisational skills.
3. Evidence of clearly explaining issues and requirements, so that they are understood by both technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders.
4. Experience of working with a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet their outcomes.
5. The ability to apply technical knowledge and skills to monitor, identify, investigate, analyse, document and resolve requests in a timely fashion.
6. A broad understanding of Information Systems, and or networking technologies with relevant experience and training.
7. A demonstrable understanding or awareness of best practices around backups and/or disaster recovery, including when to take or restore a backup.

Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
