Job Description - Associate Manager, Finishing

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The finishing department is a key section of our production facility ensuring that our customers campaigns and event products arrive finished, trimmed and able to be installed or used correctly. You will be responsible for finishing and collating printed or supplied products according to job bag and campaign specifications.  You will be working as part of a finishing team that works across multiple material types, large and small format items, 3D structures, using a variety of standard finishing machinery.

Together with Finishing Unit Manager you will be responsible for the management of the finishing department and associated team members. You will be busy with quality monitoring to ensure that high standards are met from all members of the finishing department.

Working closely with Production management teams and other business wide teams to ensure all projects are produced, delivered and all requirements and needs of the client are met and exceeded.

Working within this extremely busy and challenging department you will be tasked with:

  • Working to set tasks daily.
  • Following instruction surrounding campaign and event finishing requirements.
  • Report to Finishing Unit Manager.
  • Work as a team to achieve daily objectives and to a high standard.
  • Follow an on-line work schedule.
  • Follow the health & safety rules and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with the rest of the team and departments.

You will be busy with the following Finishing duties:

  • Zund cutting tables – cutting, kiss cutting, routing, etc.
  • Laminating – heated rollers and Rolls Rollers.
  • Hand finishing – vinyl wrap mounting, weeding etc.
  • Eyelets and hemming – finishing of banners/textiles.
  • Various manual finishing operations – gluing, assembly, taping, etc…

Together with the Unit Manager and especially in their absence, you will be:

  • Setting and managing teams' workloads across production tasks daily.
  • Scheduling all projects and finishing requirements on internal MI System (training provided).
  • Understanding risk and escalation process to ensure that risks and issues are avoided or managed correctly.
  • Setting teams workloads across all shifts and weekend working needs.
  • Following instruction surrounding campaign and event requirements from production managers.
  • Operate and maintain a clean, efficient and productive finishing department.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED:

  • Excellent timekeeping and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and observe finishing techniques.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks.
  • Stress resistance and ability to work under pressure.
  • A stickler for processes, great attention to detail, to ensure right first time.
  • Able to report and provide precises information for management on request.
  • Health and Safety trained.
  • Exceptional finishing knowledge across processes such as Cutting, Laminating, Mounting.
  • Experience in managing teams and setting shifts across working requirements.
  • Ability to prioritise, adapt and adjust working practices and tasks.
