About Mech Electrics Limited
Founded in 2007, Mech Electrics Limited is an agile, boutique recruitment agency specialising in the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) and Building Services sectors. We provide top-tier permanent and freelance professionals to the UK’s leading contracting, consulting, and construction firms. Operating from our office in Bollington, we pride ourselves on deep industry knowledge, long-term relationships, and a collaborative environment where team members are given the tools and autonomy to truly succeed.
Why Choose Us?
Mech Electrics offers a more personal and autonomous alternative to the large, KPI-led recruitment environment. You will be trusted to manage your workload professionally, without excessive call targets or unnecessary micromanagement. We care about quality, activity and results, while recognising that successful recruitment is built through knowledge, judgement and strong relationships:
* True Autonomy: We trust you to manage your time and workload professionally, with the freedom to focus on quality candidate engagement and successful delivery.
* Direct Mentorship: You will work side-by-side with our Director, Angus Eddowes, gaining decades of invaluable industry expertise that you simply cannot get in a large corporate training academy.
* A Visible Contribution: Your work will be recognised and rewarded, and you will have a direct voice in how the business develops and grows.
* A Tightly-Knit Team: We operate as a small, collaborative, and supportive team where your well-being, personal growth, and professional success are genuinely valued.
The Role
We are seeking an ambitious and focused Associate Consultant to join our close-knit team. You will join an established recruitment business with an active client base and a consistent flow of permanent and freelance vacancies. Your initial focus will be candidate delivery: identifying, engaging and managing the people required by clients with whom we have developed long-standing relationships.
Working directly alongside Angus and the team, you will develop a detailed knowledge of the M&E and Building Services market while supporting genuine live requirements from day one. As your sector knowledge and confidence develop, you will have the opportunity to progress into account management and, if it suits your strengths and ambitions, a full 360-degree Recruitment Consultant position.
Key Responsibilities
* Job Board Management: Draft engaging job adverts and manage postings across a wide range of industry-specific and mainstream job boards.
* Application Management: Review all incoming CVs, manage responses, and ensure a positive candidate experience for every applicant.
* Proactive Sourcing & Headhunting: Actively hunt for passive talent using LinkedIn Recruiter, specialised CV databases, and internal networks.
* Talent Pooling: Build and maintain deep talent pools of active and passive freelance and permanent candidates within the built environment.
* Screening & Interviewing: Conduct initial phone screenings and competency checks to ensure candidates match client requirements.
* Process Management: Coordinate candidate interviews, provide detailed feedback, and assist with compliance and onboarding paperwork.
* Career Development: Work closely with Angus and the team to develop your knowledge of client management, contract negotiation and business development, with the opportunity to progress into account management or a 360-degree consultant role.
What We Are Looking For
* Experience: Ideally, you will have at least 12 months’ experience in recruitment, resourcing, candidate management or talent sourcing. Experience within construction, engineering, technical recruitment or the built environment would be particularly valuable, although strong applicants from other fast-paced recruitment sectors will also be considered.
* Skills: Experience using multiple job boards, writing adverts, and navigating LinkedIn Recruiter.
* Location: Able to commute daily to our office in Bollington, Macclesfield.
* Mindset: A resilient, curious, and self-motivated professional who enjoys the "thrill of the hunt" when finding niche talent.
* Communication: Exceptional phone manner and written skills, with the confidence to build rapport with site-based and corporate engineering professionals.
What We Offer
* Competitive base salary tailored to your experience level.
* Rewarding commission/bonus structure linked to candidate placements.
* Full office setup in the scenic area of Bollington, with Friday WFH flexibility unlocked upon successful completion of your probation period.
* Direct, daily mentorship from an industry expert with over two decades of sector experience.
* A genuine, long-term career path with no ceiling on your professional or financial growth Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
