Our Financial Services (FS) Funds group is a market‑leading practice advising asset managers, investment funds and institutional investors across the full lifecycle of investment products. The team has a particular strength in regulated funds and is recognised for combining deep regulatory expertise with a highly commercial, client‑focused approach.

The practice advises UK, European and global asset and wealth managers on fund formation, restructuring, promotion and ongoing operation, as well as on related corporate and strategic transactions. The role

The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting a broad range of domestic and international clients, advising asset managers, funds and investors on a wide range of regulated funds matters.

The position can be based in Bristol or London and offers excellent exposure to complex, high‑quality work in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Advising asset managers on the launch, restructuring, promotion and operation of investment funds, with a particular emphasis on regulated funds such as UCITS.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating key fund‑related agreements, including custody/depositary, administration, investment management, distribution and platform agreements.
  • Supporting on corporate and strategic transactions involving asset and wealth managers, including acquisitions, disposals and restructurings.
  • Advising on, reviewing and drafting retail investment product and service documentation.
  • Advising institutional and other significant investors on their investments into funds.
  • Advising on applicable financial services regulatory requirements, working closely with specialist regulatory colleagues where appropriate.

The role offers high levels of responsibility, early client exposure and the opportunity to develop a strong personal practice within a supportive team structure.

Requirements

  • Approximately 2–3 years’ PQE, with experience in regulated funds gained at another leading practice.
  • Excellent academic background.
  • Demonstrable understanding of financial services regulation and a genuine interest in the financial services and investment funds sector.
  • Ability to work autonomously where appropriate, while exercising sound judgment in seeking input from partners and colleagues when required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong client focus, with an ability and willingness to become actively involved in marketing and business development.
  • Commercially driven, with an understanding of client objectives and market dynamics.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative team.
