Attendance Administrator
Are you organised, proactive and passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential? We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Attendance Administrator to join our busy secondary school office team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring and promoting student attendance, maintaining accurate records and working closely with students, parents/carers, teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to improve attendance and punctuality across the school.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and record daily student attendance, ensuring registers are completed accurately and promptly.
Follow up on student absences, contacting parents/carers by telephone, email or text to establish reasons for absence.
Maintain accurate attendance records and update the school's management information system.
Ideally, use Arbor to record attendance, update student information and generate attendance reports.
Identify patterns of absence and lateness, bringing concerns to the attention of the appropriate staff.
Support the school in implementing attendance procedures and improving overall attendance rates.
Assist with preparing attendance reports, letters and documentation for meetings.
Work collaboratively with pastoral leaders, Heads of Year, the safeguarding team and the Senior Leadership Team.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with school policies and data protection requirements.
Provide general administrative support to the school office when required.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
Has good written and verbal communication skills.
Is confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel and email.
Has basic knowledge of Arbor or experience using a school management information system (desirable).
Can communicate professionally and sensitively with parents/carers and students.
Is proactive in following up absences and resolving attendance queries.
Can work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a busy school environment.
Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding and accurate record-keeping.
Has previous administrative experience, ideally within a school or educational setting (desirable).
