Attendance Officer

A highly regarded Independent School in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who understands the importance of attendance in supporting student achievement, wellbeing and safeguarding. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school while supporting students and families to overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities will include monitoring daily attendance, conducting first-day absence calls, maintaining accurate attendance records and analysing attendance data to identify trends and concerns. You will work closely with students, parents, pastoral leaders and external agencies to implement effective intervention strategies.

The successful candidate will prepare attendance reports, coordinate attendance meetings and support wider safeguarding procedures where attendance concerns may indicate additional support needs.

Strong communication skills, excellent organisation and the ability to build positive relationships are essential for this role.
