We are seeking a dedicated, organised, and proactive Attendance Officer to join a thriving school in Newcastle on a full-time maternity cover contract from September 2026 until July 2027.

This is a key role within the school, supporting the attendance and safeguarding team to ensure excellent attendance and punctuality across the student body. The successful candidate will play a vital part in promoting positive attendance, working closely with pupils, parents, staff, and external agencies.

Key responsibilities will include:

Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality across the school.
Following up on pupil absences and maintaining accurate attendance records.
Identifying attendance concerns and implementing early intervention strategies.
Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies regarding attendance matters.
Producing attendance reports for senior leaders and pastoral teams.
Supporting the school's safeguarding and welfare procedures.
Working with pupils and families to improve attendance outcomes.
Ensuring compliance with attendance regulations and school policies.
Providing administrative support related to attendance and pupil welfare.The Ideal CandidateThe successful applicant will:

Have previous experience working within a school, education, or administrative environment.
Demonstrate excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
Possess strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Be confident dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Have the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and staff.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office and school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom.
