Company Description

HaysMac is an award-winning firm of chartered accountants and tax advisors, with over 45 partners and over 600 staff, providing advice and services to entrepreneurs, fast-growing and owner-managed businesses, large, complex and listed groups and not for profit organisations across the UK and internationally. From our trainees to our partners, our culture of support and progression means we grow together as one firm to best help our clients.

We are a Top 20 London accountancy firm, a leading member of MSI Global Alliance, and trusted advisers to some of the UK’s most exciting businesses and charities. Our teams work collaboratively from our modern offices in London and Cape Town.

Job Description

Start your career in Audit at HaysMac, working with a diverse range of clients while studying towards your ACA qualification.

Audit is about providing independent assurance that financial statements are accurate and reliable. As an Audit Associate, you will help organisations build trust in their financial reporting, supporting better decision-making for stakeholders.

From day one, you will join one of our Corporate teams — Creative, Media & Technology; Property; Hospitality; or Financial Services — gaining exposure to different industries and business environments.

What you’ll be doing

As an Audit Associate, you will work as part of a team delivering high-quality audits. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Testing financial transactions (e.g. invoices, payments, and receipts)
  • Reviewing financial data to identify risks or inconsistencies
  • Preparing audit working papers and documenting findings
  • Supporting seniors and managers throughout the audit process
  • Attending client meetings and building relationships with client teams
  • Working both in the office and on client sites

You will gain exposure to a wide range of clients and industries, developing both your technical knowledge and professional skills.

Responsibilities above are generalised and are no way exhaustive.

Training and development

We are committed to supporting your growth from day one. You will:

  • Study towards the ACA qualification with full support
  • Receive structured technical and professional skills training
  • Be assigned a dedicated line manager and buddy
  • Learn through hands-on experience and on-the-job coaching

You will also be part of a close-knit graduate cohort, providing peer support throughout your training journey.

Working at HaysMac

We pride ourselves on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where you can thrive. Alongside your role, you will have opportunities to:

  • Build strong relationships across the firm
  • Take part in social and networking events
  • Contribute to our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives

Our culture is built on collaboration, progression, and shared success.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals who are curious, motivated and eager to learn. You should:

  • Be a strong communicator, with the confidence to build relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Demonstrate curiosity and critical thinking, with the ability to question and analyse information
  • Have a genuine interest in how businesses and organisations operate
  • Enjoy working collaboratively and contributing ideas within a team environment
  • Be adaptable and able to manage changing priorities and deadlines
  • Show attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
  • Be comfortable working with data and using technology to analyse information
  • Take initiative and demonstrate a proactive approach to your development
  • Act with integrity and professionalism in all situations

Academic Requirements

  • A 2:2 degree (predicted or obtained) in any discipline
  • 120 UCAS points (or equivalent) from your top three A-Levels

Additional Information

Everyone is welcome to apply for our roles, and we are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment because of gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion, belief, age, marital status, background, pregnancy, or caring responsibilities.

We also recognise the importance of diversity of thought within our teams and are fully committed to embracing the talents of people with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and other forms of neurocognitive variation.
