Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with a well-regarded and growing accountancy practice in Plymouth to recruit an experienced Audit Manager. This role offers the chance to lead audit teams, manage complex client portfolios, and drive excellence in audit delivery across diverse sectors.
The Role: As Audit Manager, you'll be responsible for managing audit engagements from planning to completion, leading and developing a team, and building strong client relationships. This is a client-facing role with real opportunity to shape how audits are delivered and to contribute to the growth of the firm.
Your responsibilities as the Audit Manager will include:
Manage a portfolio of audit assignments, ensuring compliance with audit standards and deadlines.
Lead planning meetings, set audit scopes and budgets, and coordinate with clients throughout the process.
Supervise and review the work of audit seniors and trainees.
Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing technical insight and adding value.
Identify areas for improvement in internal processes and contribute to the firm’s wider growth strategy.
Support business development initiatives, including networking and proposal preparation.
What We’re Looking For:
ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
Proven experience in an audit-focused role within a UK practice (ideally 2 years+).
Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing and financial reporting standards.
Confident communicator with excellent client relationship skills.
Effective team leader with the ability to motivate and develop junior staff.
Comfortable using audit and accounting software (e.g. CaseWare, CCH, etc.)
