The role oversees execution of audits, aiding junior staff while reporting to managers and partners, with responsibilities including client communication, technical review, and risk assessment. The firm specialises in serving private clients, high-net-worth individuals, and businesses across sectors including real estate, not-for-profit, and entertainment, maintaining a strong reputation for personalised service while being ranked among the UK's top 20 accounting practices. With offices throughout the UK and as a member of the a large International network, the client combines the personal approach of a medium-sized firm with global reach and expertise.

Description

  1. Leading fieldwork teams on client engagements, supervising junior staff while executing audit procedures according to the firm's methodology
  2. Maintaining regular communication with clients, addressing queries and gathering necessary information while building strong relationships
  3. Reviewing work papers and audit documentation to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with auditing standards
  4. Identifying and assessing audit risks, developing appropriate responses, and executing tests of controls and substantive procedures
  5. Supporting audit managers in planning engagements, preparing budgets, and assigning tasks to team members
  6. Mentoring and developing junior staff members, providing feedback and guidance on their work
  7. Drafting key sections of audit reports and financial statements, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements
  8. Spotting potential business advisory opportunities for clients that could benefit from broader service offerings
  9. Contributing to the firm's specialised sector expertise, particularly in private clients, real estate, not-for-profit, and entertainment industries
  10. Progressing your own technical knowledge and professional qualifications, likely working toward becoming an audit manager

This role would offer exposure to a diverse client base and the opportunity to develop both technical and leadership skills within a prestigious mid-tier firm.

Profile

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA professional with 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in audit
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with demonstrated proficiency in UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Previous experience supervising audit teams and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent client relationship management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Keen attention to detail and analytical skills for identifying audit risks and anomalies
  • Experience in specialist sectors (private clients, real estate, not-for-profit, or entertainment)
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify potential advisory opportunities
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and career progression
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Adaptable approach to working with diverse client portfolios
  • Integrity and professional scepticism in accordance with auditing standards
  • Good understanding of the regulatory environment and compliance requirements in the UK
