Automation & Control Technician

We have a permanent Automation & Control Technician role available within Tata Steel Tubes. This role is ideal for someone with strong PLC, SCADA, and instrumentation skills and is technical, collaborative, and crucial to maintaining manufacturing operations.

Rate:
£40,830 (Inclusive of shift allowance), rising to £47,435 upon demonstration of site-specific competencies + quarterly bonus

Contract length:
Permanent

Shift Patterns:
Shift work required (details to be confirmed)

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and resolve faults in PLC, SCADA, and industrial control systems (Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley)

• Maintain and calibrate instrumentation, control loops, and variable speed drives

• Support system upgrades and commissioning of automation equipment

• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational efficiency standards

• Work collaboratively with engineers and operators to optimise system performance

Essential requirements:

• HNC or higher qualification in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering

• Time-served apprenticeship in a relevant field

• Hands-on experience with PLC programming and fault-finding (Siemens S7 / Allen Bradley)

• Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, Profibus, and Profinet networks

Desirable requirements:

• Driving license and use of a car

• Experience with process control systems in heavy industry or manufacturing
