Automation Controls Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Automation Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site in Barnsley.

This is a hands-on role focused on PLC systems, electrical controls, automation and fault finding, supporting site reliability while driving improvements across automated production equipment.

The Role

* Fault find, diagnose and resolve PLC and automation issues

* Support and optimise electrical control systems

* Work with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs, including Logix platforms

* Maintain and troubleshoot servo drives, VFDs and inverters

* Drive automation and electrical continuous improvement projects

* Maintain electrical drawings, documentation and software backups

* Support engineers with complex electrical and controls faults

* Ensure electrical systems meet required safety and compliance standards

What We're Looking For

* HNC or equivalent in Electrical, Controls or Automation Engineering

* Electrical/Automation Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience

* Strong PLC programming and fault-finding skills

* Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs

* Knowledge of servo drives, VFDs, inverters and industrial networks

* Manufacturing experience, ideally within a fast-paced automated environment
