We're looking for an Automation Test Engineer to help validate the performance, reliability, and quality of cutting-edge software and integrated hardware systems. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you'll execute structured test activities, identify and report defects, and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and automation. Key Responsibilities
* Execute functional, integration, regression, and performance testing across software and hardware systems.
* Set up and configure test environments, supporting both laboratory and field-based testing activities.
* Accurately record test results, identify defects, and verify fixes using defect tracking tools.
* Produce clear and traceable test documentation to support quality and compliance requirements.
* Assist with the development and maintenance of automated test scripts and identify opportunities to reduce manual testing.
* Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to investigate issues and improve overall product quality.
* Contribute ideas to improve testing processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
* Travel to customer and test locations across the UK when required.
What We're Looking For
* Degree, HND, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant technical discipline.
* Some experience of software or systems testing gained through industry, education, internships, or personal projects.
* Understanding of core testing principles, including test cases, defect reporting, regression testing, and test evidence.
* Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
* Clear written communication skills and the ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
* An interest in developing skills in test automation and modern engineering technologies.
* Comfortable working in both office/laboratory and outdoor test environments.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn new tools.
Desirable Skills
* ISTQB Foundation Certification (or a willingness to achieve it).
* Experience with Python, scripting, or automated testing tools.
* Familiarity with Jira or similar defect management platforms.
* Exposure to sensor technologies, RF, radar, autonomous systems, or other advanced engineering environments.
* Full UK driving licence.
