We are one of the industry leaders in automotive apprentice training, and we are looking for experienced Heavy Vehicle / Bus & Coach Technical Tutors to join our Training Academy.

You do not need teaching experience. All positions need competency in heavy vehicle or bus mechanical engineering, and we will give you full support and professional development to help you move into a training role. We welcome applications from mechanics, vehicle technicians, mobile and fleet technicians, HGV and LGV maintenance technicians, PSV engineers, engine specialists and depot managers.

The Role

You will deliver high quality practical and theory training to Heavy Vehicle and Bus & Coach apprentices. You will create an engaging learning environment where they build the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to succeed in the industry.

Responsibilities include:

* Delivering engaging, industry relevant practical and theory sessions to groups of apprentices

* Supporting apprentices to complete their programme successfully

* Carrying out fair, accurate and consistent assessments against prescribed criteria

* Keeping accurate learner records and programme documentation in line with awarding body and apprenticeship standards

* Developing schemes of work, lesson plans and training materials

* Creating an inclusive learning environment where every apprentice can succeed

* Working with colleagues, employers and stakeholders to support learner progress

What We're Looking For

Essential

* A strong background as a Heavy Vehicle or Bus & Coach Technician

* A Level 3 NVQ, ATA or recognised equivalent as a minimum

* Strong practical and technical knowledge of commercial vehicles

* The ability to explain technical information clearly, and a genuine interest in developing others

Technical Experience

Candidates from either a Heavy Vehicle or a Bus & Coach background will be considered for both vacancies, as the skills and systems overlap a lot.

* Servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of HGVs, buses or coaches

* Diesel engines, braking, air systems, suspension, steering and driveline

* Electrical and electronic fault diagnosis using diagnostic equipment

* Work in fleet, haulage, dealership, bus operator or manufacturer environments

* MOT, IRTEC, PSV inspection or manufacturer qualifications would be beneficial

Experience with manufacturers such as Volvo, Scania, DAF, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, Alexander Dennis or Wrightbus would be useful.

Desirable

* Experience with high voltage, hybrid, electric or alternative fuel commercial vehicles

* Knowledge of ADAS and modern vehicle technologies

* Experience training apprentices or technicians, ideally to Level 3 and beyond

* A Level 3 Education and Training qualification and an understanding of the current Ofsted framework

No teaching qualification? Don't let that put you off. We are particularly keen to hear from experienced HV/B&C Technicians looking to move into training.
