Avionics/Electrical Systems Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Avionics/Electrical Systems Engineer to join our Aerospace Engineering team. Working within our Aerospace Division it will include supporting various customers as well as integrating into our UK CAA Part 21J Design Organisation (DOA) environment. You will support the design, analysis, development and certification of aircraft avionics and electrical system modifications and installations.

This is an opportunity to combine hands-on systems engineering with airworthiness, certification and customer collaboration, supporting projects throughout the aircraft modification lifecycle.

We’re looking for an Avionics/Electrical Systems Engineer to deliver aircraft modification and systems engineering solutions across our aerospace programmes.

Working alongside our Chief Engineers, Technical Team Leads and wider engineering community, you’ll develop and analyse complete engineering packages for aircraft avionics and electrical systems.

You’ll work across the engineering lifecycle, from initial requirements and technical analysis through to certification, installation and aircraft testing, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements and applicable airworthiness standards.

What You’ll Do

As an Avionics/Electrical Systems Engineer, you’ll support the development and delivery of aircraft modification and installation projects, including:

* Developing and analysing complete engineering packages for aircraft avionics and electrical system modifications and installations

* Producing engineering reports and technical assessments covering aircraft avionics and electrical systems

* Developing schematics, wiring diagrams and installation drawings

* Supporting avionics and electrical installation design activities

* Producing certification reports, compliance documentation and test schedules

* Carrying out Electrical Load Analysis (ELA) and associated technical assessments

* Reviewing OEM Service Bulletins, vendor STCs and installation data packages

* Interpreting aircraft electrical and avionics architectures to develop practical engineering solutions

* Supporting airworthiness and certification activities within a UK CAA Part 21J DOA environment

* Ensuring engineering activities are undertaken in accordance with applicable DOA procedures and technical governance requirements

* Supporting and witnessing aircraft testing, including ground, flight and EMC testing

* Providing engineering support during aircraft installations and modifications to resolve technical issues

* Working directly with customer avionics and electrical engineering teams to understand requirements and develop solutions

* Liaising with vendors and suppliers regarding technical requirements and equipment integration

* Supporting prototype installations, aircraft surveys and on-site engineering activities where required

* Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, engineering reports and design records

* Providing technical input into bids, proposals and future aerospace programmes

* Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers where appropriate

* Contributing to continuous improvement across engineering processes and technical standards

* Working in accordance with the Morson Praxis Safety Management System (SMS)

* Some travel may be required for customer meetings, aircraft surveys, prototype installations and on-site testing and engineering support.

What We’re Looking For

Experience in aircraft avionics and/or electrical systems engineering, ideally within an aircraft modification environment

Strong understanding of aircraft electrical and avionics architecture and system integration

Experience developing or analysing aircraft avionics and electrical system modifications and installations

Knowledge of airworthiness and certification requirements, ideally within a Part 21J Design Organisation

Experience producing engineering reports, certification documentation and test schedules

Ability to produce and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and installation drawings

Experience undertaking Electrical Load Analysis and supporting technical assessments

Understanding of aircraft testing, ideally including ground, flight and/or EMC testing

Ability to interpret technical information including wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, electrical load data and aircraft technical documentation

Knowledge of commercial and/or military aircraft avionics and electrical systems

CAD experience would be advantageous but is not essential

Strong technical problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams

Previous leadership, supervision or mentoring experience would be advantageous

Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Avionics, Electrical, Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline
