Job Description - AWS Platform Engineer

Location: Central London, Greater London - United Kingdom Type: Permanent

Senior Platform Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid / Flexible working)
Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 + bonus
Security Clearance: Active SC required

We're looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering high-impact solutions within complex, secure environments. You'll work on modern platforms, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design, build, and support scalable systems from proof of concept through to production.

What you'll be doing

Designing, building, and maintaining platform and application services
Acting as a senior technical contributor across delivery teams
Driving best practices in automation, CI/CD, testing, and code quality
Working in agile delivery teams (Scrum / Kanban / Lean)
Solving complex technical challenges using sound engineering principles

What we're looking for

Strong programming experience in Python, Java, JavaScript or .NET
Proven experience delivering production-grade systems
Solid use of Git-based version control
Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, Bitbucket)
Automated testing and static code analysis (e.g. SonarQube)
Strong understanding of software design patterns
Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments

Nice to have (not essential)

Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
Infrastructure & configuration management (e.g. Ansible)
Experience with relational, document, or graph databases
Exposure to machine learning platforms
