Back-end Developer (up to £40,000)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated, skilled back-end software developer to join our Technology Team and help enhance our speed to market, scalability, security and stability. This position is crucial to ensure we maintain and improve our high-quality user experience as we continue to grow.

You will be an integral part of our back-end development team, working closely with other developers and teams to enhance and maintain our infrastructure. 

You’ll love this role if;

 As a  Back-end Developer you will;

  • Develop well-tested code in Java 
  • Develop, deploy and maintain production quality software
  • Use Linux through the command line interface
  • Work well in a small team that interacts with all aspects of the wider company
  • Take part in the on-call rota
  • Be exposed to a wide range of services and tasks in the back-end
  • Java for our application code  
  • MySQL & SQLServer for our databases 
  • AWS for infrastructure (Aurora, OpenSearch, EKS, EC2, Kafka, DynamoDB, S3, Cloudwatch, etc.) 
  • Gitlab for source control and CI/CD 
  • Terraform for IaC 
  • Kubernetes and Docker for tasks, services and internal webapps 
  • Amazon EC2, Tomcat & Struts for our API and other externally facing services 
  • Amazon Cloudwatch and Opsgenie for alerting and on-call.
