Banding: Band 5
Location: Chorley, Lancashire

Salary: £28,992 – £36,636 per annum (including paid school holidays) + excellent benefits
Working Hours: Full-time


A valued client is seeking a compassionate and motivated Newly Qualified Speech & Language Therapist to join their team at Westmorland School in Chorley. Key responsibilities


Westmorland School is part of a wider network of specialist schools and children’s homes that deliver one of the most integrated models in SEND. The school supports pupils with a wide range of communication profiles, including non-speaking learners, AAC users, and those with developmental language differences and delays. The young people often present with complex needs such as developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, and special educational needs.


This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload and develop clinical skills in a setting that values learner-centred practice. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for special educational needs (SEN), a commitment to ongoing professional development, and a reflective, feedback-driven approach to their work.


As part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, the successful candidate will support educational and residential colleagues in creating therapeutic living and learning environments. They will conduct clinical assessments, develop personalised care plans, and deliver individualised therapeutic interventions. The role also involves assessing mental health needs and recommending appropriate interventions. Building strong rapport with young people is essential to delivering effective counselling and providing meaningful feedback on progress.

  • Be a qualified Speech and Language Therapist registered with the HCPC

  • Be a confident, engaging and effective, model, guide, leader and trainer.
