Job Title: Occupational Therapist – Adult Neurological Centre – Stoke-on-Trent
Banding: Band 6
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Start: ASAP
Duration: Permanent
Rate: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum
Working hours: Full-time


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our client’s team at a new and innovative neurological centre in Stoke-on-Trent. The service provides neurobehavioural rehabilitation for individuals with acquired brain injuries and complex needs that prevent them from accessing their full potential in other settings. The centre delivers a 24/7 outcome-focused programme in a ‘relentlessly positive’ therapeutic environment, led by expert clinicians working as a transdisciplinary team.


You will work in partnership with residents and carers to set realistic goals and develop collaborative intervention plans, with regular reviews to monitor progress and adapt accordingly.


Key Responsibilities


• Completing neurological assessments, treatment planning, and interventions
• Delivering rehabilitation to improve function and independence with ADLs
• Conducting cognitive assessments and rehabilitation
• Applying therapeutic handling techniques
• Assessing environmental and equipment needs, including specialist seating
• Identifying ongoing needs while promoting quality of life
• Liaising with community colleagues to support complex discharge planning
• Evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans
• Supervising Occupational Therapy support staff and students
• Implementing and developing evidence-based therapeutic activities


Qualifications and Experience:


• Degree in Occupational Therapy
• HCPC registration
• NHS experience is essential
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
• Extensive clinical experience working with adults with complex needs
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy frameworks and approaches
• Highly effective clinical reasoning skills
• Specialist knowledge of assessment and treatment models
• Understanding of working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental illness
