Bank Driver Location: RustingtonSalary: £14.54 per hour plus unsocial hours paymentsMost of us grow up with 5 senses and can’t imagine what it’s like to lose any one of those.For some ex-service people, this is their reality. Suddenly their whole way of life is changed, even walking to the shops becomes a huge task.Fortunately, Blind Veterans are here to help rebuild their lives. But they can’t do it alone.This is where you come in.As a Bank Driver for Blind Veterans UK, you’ll provide safe and enjoyable journeys for our veterans in a variety of vehicles, both manual and automatic, and a range of sizes. These include cars, adapted people carriers and larger minibuses.You’ll have an eye for what makes a comfortable journey for someone who is visually impaired, which will also include providing sighted guidance into and out of vehicles and during rest stops.You’ll need a basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and will carry out your own checks on your vehicles. You’ll also need to be comfortable using various tools for planning and managing your routes.There may be an occasional need for an overnight stay when collecting members.Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-service people of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss.
